in communism the rich elite class is even smaller, and there is no way for a poor person to work their way up the ranks of society.

Capitalism, like Socialism, has never been practised in their pure form. Both of these have been corrupted by the human factor. There will never be a perfect system as long as it is designed for us by us.

yes, allot of people who support communism. You should read some of their literature too. However, you'll never really get to hear their point of view unless you dig and hunt for it because mainstream media of usa will always give you a distorted negative version. I recommend you watch "fidel:the untold story" documentary or "The revolution will not be televised"(which is on youtube)In these documentary's you can actually hear what castro and chavez have to say..Check it out, then make a opinion!

I can't believe people actually think Communism is still a good idea , yeah things a going swimmingly in Cuba , your fine as long as you don't disagree with the state. You can always try to flee. Or what about the millions murdered under the Chinese cultural revolution or the Bolcheviks in Russia. Yeah under Communism everyone is equal, at the barrel of a gun and heal of a boot. You own NOTHING the state OWNS everything , including you.

It was a joke man. I support lots of Marx's ideals and I was able to get a good chuckle out of the video. Hell, I was even born on the same day as Marx :P

Isnt capitalism a system dependent on classes? where the ultra poor(majority) must exist so that the ultra rich(minority) can flourish? i'm not sure i would define such a system as "successful". Tell me have u ever met cuban or venezuelan who supports castro and chavez? Believe me, plenty exist! You should read some of their literature at pathfinderpress.c0m. Try Taking a look at both sides of the coin FIRST, then make an opinion.

what about mexico and most of all south america where the ultra poor accounts for the masses and the middle class is almost non existent? However they All practice capitalism...does that mean capitalism doesn't work??? Not necessarily right??..Don't these exploited 3rd world capitalist countries need to exist in order for so called "successful" capitalist countries like USA to flourish?

yes 500 words is too short but im bored so what the hell.. ill just say this... True communism has never existed. Also it is almost impossible for it to exist. Why? because the world is capitalist. Which is why cuba is struggling as a socialist country trying to attain communism. You also came to the conclusion communism is untenable because of its FEW failed attempts in the past. However i could say the same for capitalism. In fact their are more failed attempts at capitalism then communism.

Then again, you're a bit of a Pangloss apologist for Fidel and Chavez, so what do I expect you to say? You've never experienced a communist regime, have no idea what you're talking about, and I could tell you what's wrong with communism in considerably more than 500 words.
felixjazzage (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Yes, I know what you'll say next: "There's never been a true communist regime." Well, when, precisely, do you expect for them to get it right finally? I'm a Pragmatist (philosophical school), and, in my estimation, if a theory fails in pratice continuously, then, it's most likely untenable.
