I would ask Max to sit every time a visitor arrives, and then treat him for sitting. He will soon learn that if he sits down when visitors arrive he will get a treat- so will automatically start sitting when visitors arrive in hope of being praised. Also, you could train him to go to a certain place (eg. his bed) when visitors are around, and reward him for laying calmly. If he jumps up, turn your back and walk away calmly, as pushing him off/yelling, can be seen as fun to him, only encouraging it

Also I was wondering what ways can you teach your boxer how not to bounce on your guest and you. Max has a promblem with jumping on my friends and guests. Any ideas on how to handle this situation?

I'd recommend chaneling his "nibling" onto suitable toys.if he nips you while you are playing with him,say "ouch"then leave the room,So that he learns that if he nips while playing- the fun will end.Keep training short and FUN! Boxers are very smart dogs, and get bored of repetitive exercises quickly. I recommend clicker training (read up on it)and positive reinforcement:)socialise him whilst young, and puppy pre-schools or local obedience clubs are a good place to start.Goodluck with Max.

I started training Bondi as soon as I got her home, 8 weeks. I trained her using clicker training. Chicken bones are fine as long as they are raw. I often give Bondi raw chicken frames, necks and wings- she loves them! Also alot of raw feeders (BARF) feed raw chicken, so as long as it it raw, it is fine.

I have a 3 month old boxer and I am wondering 2 things. At what age did you start training your boxer and what method or how did you train your boxer. Also, raw chicken wing? I was always told dogs were not supposed to have chicken due to the small bones??

Clicker training is when you use a device called a clicker to mark your dogs good behavior (pretty much use it instead of saying yes or good dog, as it is more clear to the dog, and the timing can be more acurate) Try searching "clicker training dogs" on youtube, there are afew good videos ;)
