Huh, never knew any of that. I'm not all that familiar with shootboxing, so I guess I thought it was just this guy who wore them.

The sentai spandex pants are the uniform of the Shootboxing organization. Shootboxers actually have their names on the side to show their allegiance to Shootboxing when fighting in other orgs like the K-1. There's also a more practical use- the Shootboxing pants have instep guards to protect the wearer's feet.

I saw 3 video of sanda fighter getting hit by a knee to the body and they pretty much out of business after that.

most of the top fighters in china (sanshou) are military personnel.. they're not allowed to fight in K1 or overseas events.. plus the K1 in japan is high manipulated (sometimes staged i'm sure).. they don't welcome chinese fighters there..
