its not a must atal, tap water can be used easily and safelyalthough the chemicals and contaminants found in there will not be beneficial for the plant but certainly are not harmful i don't thinkmyself, i use collected rain water or river water - i live in the countrythat way the water will even contain micro nutrients for the plants and closer resembles its natural enviroment
