Saxon - Princess of the Night

from the "Denim & leather" album.(1981)lyrics:She used to be an ironhorseTwenty years agoUsed to bring the mail to meThrough the ice and snowI've sat alone and watched herSteaming through the nightNinety tons of thunderLighting up the skyShe was a princess of the nightI saw the writing on the wallShe was a princess of the nightI take a ride across the skySpeeding, sparks like lightningEngine working hardFurnace on the foot plateShining in the nightIron striking metalThe sound of racing steelIt's all I ever wanna hearIt's music to my earsShe was a princess of the nightI saw the writing on the wallShe was a princess of the nightI take a ride across the skyShe was a princess of the nightI saw the writing on the wallShe was a princess of the nightI take a ride across the skyNinety tons of thunderLighting up the skySteaming red hot pistonsSee the wheels flash byHear the whistle blowingStreaking down the trackIf I ever had my wayI'd bring the princess back one dayShe was a princess of the nightI saw the writing on the wallShe was a princess of the nightI take a ride across the sky(sky, sky, sky)

Great band, ridiculously awesome riff, top solos.

Iron Maiden and Saxon are both great bands. Both formed around the same time, both part of the "new wave of metal". Neither of them copied each other. Iron Maiden and Saxon both admit to having ripped off Thin Lizzy, Wishbone Ash and Deep Purple. Honestly.

This is not an argue who is better, but Szederp said: "This is the sorriest Iron Maiden copycat I have ever heard" and that is just wrong.Iron Maiden is my favorite band, I think they ARE the best for many reasons, BUT I do not criticize Saxon or any other band that haven't (or have) reached their fame. I'm a great fan of Saxon because unlike most bands, they are getting BETTER as they get older! Just listen METALHEAD '99, KILLING GROUND 2001, LIONHEART '2004...That is TRUE HEAVY METAL!

They must've inspired many Powermetal bands from the 90's!

Allright, I really would like to get to know Saxon better. Please tell me in what way does this song stand out from the others. All I heard was a quite generic guitar riff, throughout the song, a lyrics so average that anyone can write something like that. The guitar solo was ok, but not outstanding (compare it with Judas Priest...) . You really got me interested in this band but there is nothing unique in it, I'm sorry

The sorriest comment on this video...Saxon > Iron MaidenJust try their newest album (into the labyrinth): it blowns you away.Iron Maiden is just a copy of themselfs (Piece of mind: NoTB 2, Powerslave = NoTB 3, ...)

And you are the sorriest idiot that ever existed on YouTube.
